Did you know On November 26, 2024 the Barnstable County Commissioners approved $3,000,000 to Housing Assistance Corporation for the St. Joseph's shelter relocation and medical respite. The County's release and CAI's report do not record a vote tally, abstention or recusal; the meeting minutes are the official record of how each commissioner voted.

Did you know HAC's own page lists St. Joseph's House at 50 beds, and the roughly $6 million relocation project does not add bed capacity. HAC describes St. Joseph's as the only emergency shelter for adults on Cape Cod, operating overnight (4:30 PM to 8:00 AM).

Did you know Cape Cod's rental vacancy rate is about 4%, and 36.4% of Cape homes are seasonal. Low vacancy plus a large seasonal stock is a core driver of year-round housing pressure.

Did you know HAC used the state's Dover Amendment zoning protections to convert a 142-bed nursing home at 1 Love Lane in Dennis into housing for 79 families. The Dennis Planning Board and town counsel reviewed the Dover question.
